Cool Hunting reports that a third Verve Remixed album is now out…
Drums are divided into 8 categories: kicks, snares, thips, crashes, splashes, slams, perc, and tonals, all of which have 10x RR. FX include sweeps, impacts, reverses, textures, risers, and drops, while basses are categorized into Solid, 1shot, Mover, Distortion, and Fuzzy. The Drums & FX patch includes a 32-channel mixer with FX rack, multiple.

If you’re not familiar with the Verve Remixes series, you’ve been missing some extraordinarily great music—The Verve has opened their library of great jazz classics to a select number of DJs and other mash-up artists to produce some stunningly good sounds.
I was a big fan of Verve Remixed, and Verve Remixed Vol. 2, as well as Thievery Corporation’s Sounds from the Verve Hi-Fi, with a number of tracks making my main (and my chillout) playlists—I’m really looking forward to hearing Volume 3…

The unit is made up of pretty much equal parts PVC, caulk gun, and hacker ingenuity, and much like a Philips Senseo, it may make coffee from pressurized hot water, calling it espresso seems to be a bit of a stretch.
Likewise, it seems to lack the counter-panache of a Francis! Francis! X3 (or a Senseo, even). On the other hand, it may be the best coffee you ever got from shopping on the plumbing aisle at Home Depot, even if it does lack provisions for steaming the milk…
With this machine, you’ll heat your water seperately and then just pour it in. I highly suggest you pressure test the unit for leaks with cold water before trying a hot water run. You are the pump, so you will control the pressure in the system. It’s all dependent on how hard you tamp the grounds and what rate you force the plunger through. You probably won’t be producing 12 bar and I double. no. triple suggest you pressure test the system if you are even going to attempt that kind of pressure.

Not that I’m in the habit of reading Amazon features, per se, but I rather enjoyed this. I tend to like her “Everyday Italian” program on FoodTV, but you don’t usually hear or see much of anything about her background (she’s the granddaughter of Dino De Laurentiis, and grew up in his Hollywood restaurant, but also trained as a chef in Paris.)
Of course, they do ask the one question everybody who watches does, and they get the predictable answer…

De Laurentiis: I don’t overeat. I didn’t grow up in a family where it was about stuffing your face. We ate really great food–rich food–you’ll see there’s food in my cookbook that’s not low-fat by any means, and I’ll be the first to tell you that. But we didn’t overeat anything. You know, I’d have a little plate of pasta but I wouldn’t eat a huge bowl. It’s all about portion control.

Given the date, I suppose we can take this with a grain of salt, but apparently Apple has completed the “Gold Master” build of OS X version 10.4, aka “Tiger”.
Sources expect Apple to announce the completion of Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger as early as tomorrow, April 1st. Some retailers, including Amazon, which is offering a $35 mail-in rebate, have already begun taking pre-orders of Mac OS X Tiger, indicating that they expect to thip the product within 30 days.
Fasten your seatbelts; it looks like we’re about ready for lift-off…

Google is still claiming that Autolink is all about “user convenience”—what a load of crap.
The ‘net as it exists today would never have happened if people couldn’t sell products online. If the search engines swipe all of the product links and send them to Amazon etc., pretty soon it will be just Google and Amazon—and the rest of it will look like NSFNet, circa 1991.
All of the rest of us won’t be there to steal from anymore.
The fact is, we let Google scrape our content to sell context sensitive ads against on the search results, and they pay us back with traffic. Fair ‘nuff—if I didn’t like their traffic, I could shut them out with robots.txt.
I even let them sell ads against my content directly, and pay me for the privilege. Bob the hitman mac os. Fine and dandy, and if I decide I don’t like it, I’ll opt out.
Autolink is greedy, however. It uses our content as a backdrop to sell, and returns us nothing for our efforts. It also offers us no opt-out facility. In what sense is this not evil?
The pressure continues to mount. Micropersuasion covers Walt Mossberg’s WSJ article and Google’s still waffling response.

Awhile back, I reviewed the Café-filter for the Philips Senseo, which worked, but you had to go through some hoops to order one if you live in the US.
Fortunately, there is now a less expensive and more available alternative, Ecopad the Refillable Coffee-pad for the Senseo, available from Amazon.
It appears to work much like the Caf√ɬ©-filter, which means that it’s a great deal if you hooked on the single-cup convenience of the Senseo, but not on the rather bitter and flavorless standard coffee pads.
For $15, it’s certainly worth checking out!

While I’ve never messed around much with coffee presses, I have to admit to being real fond of the Bodum Assam Tea Press.
Ever since I took off the “tea bag training wheels” and started brewing loose leaf teas, I’ve been looking for a convenient way of doing it.
I liked the much better variety and flavor of decent loose teas, but I always ended up messing up a double-handful of containers, one to heat the water in, one to brew the tea in, and one to strain the brewed tea in, etc.

As I mentioned in my review of the Philips Senseo, I’d ordered a Café-filter from The Netherlands. This device is designed and manufactured by LMTO Electronics, B.V., and is a re-usable permanent filter for the Senseo.
The unit is built in two pieces (you can see a picture on their site, above) — a dish-shaped bottom piece, and a lid that fits tightly on top. Both the top and bottom have a reinforced mesh filter. You can fill the filter with the ground coffee of your choice (8 grams, as per the instructions), place it in the “two cup” Senseo filter pod holder, and brew a single cup.
